Die Industriemeister Metall- und Elektrotechnik sowie Mechatronik werden aktuell novelliert. In Zukunft wird es nur noch ein einheitliches Meisterprofil geben. Zusätzlich wird neben dem Meister ein neues technisches Berufsprofil für eine Fachkarriere erarbeitet: der „Bachelor Professional Industrietechnik“.
Beide Profile, der Meister und der Industrietechniker, werden in vier Technikbereiche modularisiert. Dadurch entsteht eine neue Ebene der Berufsspezialisten in den Feldern Metall, Elektro, Mechatronik und Prozesstechnik. Zudem wird die AEVO weiterhin Bestandteil der Meisterqualifizierung bleiben.
Im Rahmen des Novellierungsprozesses und zur besseren Verzahnung von Aus- und Fortbildung wurden Lösungsvorschläge von den Bundessachverständigen der IG Metall präsentiert und mit allen Plenumsteilnehmern diskutiert.
